Wounds from a Friend

October 19, 2016

Grace and Peace family,

In all my years of doing ministry and counseling others, I’m yet to meet the person who warmly receives my scolding regarding their sins. Yet some (far too few), after thinking about it, realizes that my rebukes are a result of my love and care for them.

“Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This verse essentially means that those who are willing to “call you out” for going down the wrong path ultimately care much much more about you than those who flatter you to their own gain.

Those who flatter you want something from you, and are insincere. This is why an enemy would “multiplies kisses.” However, those who are willing to “call you out” are the one’s who truly care about you. They care too much to let you go down the wrong path.
